I love interacting with children because I have a strong belief that wisdom is not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but rather in the sandpit. I believe that young children can teach us so much about how to navigate the world. They live by the golden rule, are positive, honest, full of hugs and forgiveness, and take naps daily. I love the balance that working with children brings to my day - I get to learn, share, think, draw, read, paint, sing, dance, blow bubbles, play and work each day! I admire children's curious sense of wonder and fresh and imaginative view point on life. I share their bountiful energy and primary interest of having fun and laughing lots. I am currently studying medicine and hope of one day being a Paediatrician.
I have over 10 years experience babysitting/nannying for children aged 3months to 15 years. These roles include full-time roles over the summer holidays, permanent part-time after school roles, casual babysitting and sole charge care while parents are overseas. I have previously volunteered for Radio Lollipop which involved me organising activities and playing with children in the Emergency Department and outpatient clinics of hospitals. I currently volunteer for Camp Quality, a camp for children effected by cancer. This sees me engaging in a one-on-one 24/7 buddy relationship with a child on week long summer camps and weekend long winter camps. This, together with my voluntary work and employment in hospital environments, has provided me experience working with children with disabilities and in planning and initiating age appropriate activities that are suitable to the children's level of participation determined by their health.
I am a responsible 27 year old and, with a current first aid certificate (expires 27/09/2017), your children's safety and well being will be my number one priority. I pride myself in creating positive and happy environments in which children, as individuals, can thrive. I am experienced at planning and initiating home based activities and outings that are all inclusive, age appropriate, engaging, educational and fun.
One of my strengths in my long term nannying roles is my ability to slot straight into family life, keeping up normal routines while also maintaining flexibility to work in with general peculiarities family life that are inevitable in family life. In addition to caring for children, I am be more than happy to help out with light household meal preparation, so that when parents arrive home they can spend quality time with their children.
Punctual, reliable, honest and trustworthy, I am a committed to all I take on. As a result of my multidimensional involvement, I find it easy to relate to a wide variety of people of different ages and backgrounds. I believe my warm, kind, considerate and non-judgemental nature and friendly, polite personality makes it easy for others to get along with me. I approach all I do in life with the minimum of fuss and maximum of flair.
