My name is Allie and I have over five years experience babysitting and working with children in various other capacities. My philosophy with children is to always be patient and kind, and to offer explanations whenever they are needed. I love working with children because every child is different and it is lovely to experience the enthusiasm they each offer (no hour with them is ever the same!).
Currently I care for a 3 year old boy each week. I always ensure I plan something engaging and enjoyable for us to do together and it is a highlight of my week. In addition to many babysitting roles for primary aged children I have four nieces and nephews in my family under the age of three who I spend plenty of time around when I can.
In the past I have administered the children's education program at Broadgreen Historic House in Nelson. I was responsible for groups of up to 30 kindergarten and primary aged children. I delivered educational components as well as plenty of activities and games, and ensured they were all well cared for and included during their time at the museum.
I also spent two years volunteering for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organisation. I had a seven year old 'little sister' who I spent time with each week. My visits with her focused on having fun and ensuring that she felt valued and happy. This was by far the best part of my week and taught me to be creative, attentive, positive and patient.
I have also spent many years tutoring and teaching dance to children and teenagers of all ages.
My first aid certificate was last updated in May 2015.
